What affects the price
- Size of the tree. Taller trees with wider trunks take more time, more cuts and more hauling.
- What is under it. A tree over a roof, pool, fence or power service line has to be taken down in small sections with ropes and rigging instead of dropped in one piece.
- Access. Narrow gates, backyards with no equipment access and soft ground add labor.
- Condition of the tree. Dead, rotten or storm-split trees are less predictable and take more care to climb.
- Type of wood. Live oak is very dense and heavy, which adds cutting and hauling time compared to pine.
- Cleanup and stump. Our removals include cleanup and haul-off. Stump grinding is a separate line item.
- Emergencies. Trees on a house after a storm cost more because of the extra risk and the need to work around damage.
How to save money on tree work
- Don't wait for it to fall. Removing a dead or leaning tree before a storm is almost always cheaper than removing it off your roof.
- Bundle jobs. Doing several trees, stumps or palms in one visit lowers the per-tree price.
- Keep the wood or chips. If you want the firewood or mulch left on site, tell us when we quote.
- Ask about discounts. We give 20% off to veterans and first responders, and 10% off to nurses and home health care workers.
Watch out for very low quotes
If a quote is far below everyone else's, ask for a certificate of insurance. If an uninsured crew damages your house or someone gets hurt on your property, you could be responsible. E.J.R Tree Service LLC is licensed and insured and will provide a certificate before the job.
Does homeowners insurance pay for tree removal?
Often, when a tree falls and damages your house or another covered structure. Insurance usually does not pay to remove a healthy tree or a tree that fell without hitting anything. Check your policy, and see our emergency tree service page for what to do after a storm.
